Our Culture

It's what sets us apart from other companies

We're building a better world. We measure success by the way we touch the lives of people.

We are fiercely committed to improving the lives of our team members across the globe. By providing meaningful work in an environment of care and compassion, we send them home fulfilled by their time with us, rather than drained by it. We understand what every human being on the planet desires to know who they are and what they do matters. As a business, we have a unique opportunity to let them know that they do.

Celebrating our team members for their contributions is a pillar of our truly human leadership culture - as it is one of the most important ways that we let them know they matter.

OLD pcmc

Our History

Almost a century strong

Since our humble beginnings in 1919 as Bay City Machine Company, PCMC has grown into a dynamic and global machine manufacturer today. Founded by father-son partners Peter J. Christman, Sr. and Peter J. Christman, Jr., the company quickly expanded far beyond anything they could have imagined.

In 1946, L.G. Wood became president, and he successfully led the company through our expansion into Europe, the opening of our present-day headquarters and our entry into the flexographic printing and nonwovens industries. Shortly after his passing, the Baer family took an active role in our company’s leadership in 1969, and remained there until Barry-Wehmiller acquired us in 2005. During their tenure, the Baer’s fueled our continued expansion overseas in Lucca, Italy.

Since joining the BW family more than 10 years ago, PCMC experienced a newfound sense of direction powered by a people-centric culture and sound business strategy. We’ve embraced Lean philosophies and challenge our teammates to find their own ways to build a better world through our business today that will last for years to come.

Giving back to our community

Measuring our success by the way we touch the lives of others

Our people-centric culture rests in measuring our success by the way we touch the lives of others, including those in our communities. Every year our team members organize events that embrace our culture of caring and creatively raise funds for causes near and dear to their hearts.

PCMC touches thousands of lives annually through donations to a wide variety charities. Here are just a few of the non-profit agencies and local organizations we support:

  • American Heart Association
  • myTEAM TRIUMPH
  • St. Baldrick’s Foundation
  • Syble Hopp School
  • St. Vincent Hospital
  • Disabled American Veterans Department of Wisconsin
  • Toys for Tots
  • Milwaukee Veterans Hospital

No matter the cause, our team members embrace the needs of our community and fellow co-workers with open arms and respond to them in a thoughtful and caring way. It’s just one of the ways we’re building a better world through business.
