5000 OEC Series

PLIP-42834.000 - Reciprocating Wrapper Double Round Elevator 

Current 5000 OEC series wrappers with rectangular elevating rods are prone to excessive wear on the rods themselves and the bearing inserts. Over a period of time, this allows for the elevator rods to twist or rotate and cause possible wrapper malfunction. The situation is addressed by the use of round steel stock and linear type bearings, which allow the shaft to be controlled to tighter tolerances. Also, a cam follower helps maintain proper alignment. This upgrade can be applied to most 5000 OEC reciprocating wrappers. Machines must have an elevator stroke of 13.125 inches, a load height of 33.75 inches or higher, and the leg spacers for the frame must be 5.0 inches or higher. This upgrade can usually be applied to machines with serial numbers 14398 and higher. This upgrade is intended to replace the existing rectangular elevator rods with round steel stock and linear type bearings.  

5000 OEC / 5150 / 5200 / 5250 / 5270 / 5500 / 5700 / 5800 / 6000 /7030 

PLIP-45200.000 - Dietz Film Registration Upgrade 

To adjust film registration with the original controller, the operator had to turn a hand wheel on the EMP transmission. With the new Dietz controller, adjustments can be made automatically, or manually, from the registration panel. This upgrade can be applied to most PCMC reciprocating wrappers with rotary shears. This upgrade is designed to replace the obsolete EMP film registration controller.  

5200, 5500, 5700, 6000 and 7030 Series

PLIP-41969.000 - 8-Zone Air Operated Sealing System

Quick disconnect on individual shoes. Shoes retract when the sealer motor is turned off. Belt life is improved. Sealing shoes are fully articulated to follow the product because sealing pressure is developed to be an individual spring for each heater shoe. There are 4 heaters and temperature controllers per side. The temperature controller for the bottom sealer is also replaced. This upgrade can be applied to most 5200, 5500, 5700, 6000 and 7030 reciprocating wrappers. This conversion can be retrofitted to most reciprocating wrappers with the serial number 18373 and higher. This upgrade changes the existing heaters (a single fixed heater per side or the 4 heaters with individual air cylinders per side) to a single air cylinder pivoting out a bank of spring loaded heaters per side.  

5700 and 6000 Series

PLIP-41975.000 - Vacuum Belt and Tab Belt Film Feed

The existing film feed relies on friction between the belt and the film. Because the film is slipped with respect to the belt, this causes the film to become misaligned. The vacuum belt uses vacuum to hold the film. The film is then transferred to the tab belts where tabs on the belts are used to hold the film. By holding the film more securely, it stays aligned better and there are less film feed issues. This upgrade can be applied to most PCMC Series 5700 and 6000 model reciprocating wrappers. The vacuum belt and tab belt feed upgrades the film feed with a more efficient method of film transfer. The "orange belts" and associated components are replaced with this upgrade. The film feed belt slow down package is also included with this upgrade.

UltraFlow 125/160/250 and EPS 140/250/130

PLIP-40872.000 - Side Sealer Tension Upgrade

The existing sealing belt is tensioned by a single roll that is moved by two cylinders, one at each end of the roll. The cylinders do not always keep the roll parallel to the belt and this causes the belt to fail sooner. The existing sealing belts also have rivets that were used for tracking. The rivets wear the pulleys excessively if the pulleys are not properly aligned. To help reduce the roll alignment problem, this upgrade uses a pivoting tensioner. The old tensioner had three rollers in a S-wrap. The new pivoting tensioner has one roller inside the belt path. Fewer moving parts mean less chance of roller misalignment. Improved tracking of the sealer belt as a result of a continuous guide profile. No stationary belt guides needed. Increased sealer belt life. This upgrade can be applied to most UF 125, 160 and 250 wrappers. It can also be applied to most UF EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. This upgrade can be applied to some UF EPS 130 wrappers. Contact PCMC for more information. Current side sealer belts must be driven with bevel gears. This upgrade is designed to replace the rivet style guided side seal belt and center position tightener.  

UltraFlow 125/160/250

PLIP-41193.000 - Speed-up Belt Drop Cam Replacement

This upgrade can be applied to most UF 125, 160, and 250 UltraFlow wrappers with a 3-lane flighted infeed conveyor and a drop cam assembly. This upgrade may be possible on a 4-lane infeed, but needs to be reviewed by PCMC. The purpose of this package is to replace the drop cam assembly with upper and lower speed-up belts. Drop Cam Assembly Disadvantages: Numerous change parts for different package configurations, lengthy changeover time, inconsistent roll feed to the flighted conveyor. Speed-up Belt Assembly Advantages No change parts, no changeover time, more consistent roll feed to the flighted conveyor due to increase tolerance for roll inconsistencies and increased machine efficiency.  

UltraFlow 125/160/250 and EPS 140/250

PLIP-41970.000 - 50mm No Tool V-Guide Side Pull Belts With Gearboxes Single Level

Belts feature a center v-guide which improve tracking and promote increased belt life. The new side pull belt has a synchronous (timing belt) drive that has a positive speed control. This results in improved package control during separation and eliminates trapped side pull belts, creating greater efficiency through ease of replacement. Using the appropriate spacer components, one set of 2.0” (50mm) high side pull belts can be applied to any product diameter within the machine’s height range capabilities. Belt assembly height position can be easily adjusted without the use of any tools. Pull belt oil requirements are eliminated, reducing the possibility of oil contamination. This upgrade can be applied to most UF 125, 160, and 250 wrappers. It can also be applied to most UF EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. This upgrade is designed to replace the 1.5 and 2.5 inch flat side pull belts. This upgrade replaces the pull belt bevel gear drive with enclosed, sealed-for-life gear boxes. The current side pull belts must be driven with open bevel gears.  

UltraFlow 125/160/250 and EPS 140/250

PLIP-41971.000 - 50mm Quick Change V-Guide Side Pull Belts Single Level

Belts feature a center v-guide that improves tracking and promotes increased belt life. The new side pull belts have a synchronous (timing belt) drive that has a positive speed control. This results in improved package control during separation and eliminates trapped side pull belts, creating greater efficiency through ease of replacement. Using the appropriate spacer components, one set of 2.0” (50mm) high side pull belts can be applied to any product diameter within the machine’s height range capabilities. This upgrade can be applied to most UF-EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. This upgrade can also be applied to UF 125, 160, and 250 wrappers, however the wrapper must be converted to accept removable side pull belt assemblies. Contact PCMC for pricing information. This upgrade is designed to replace the 1.5 and 2.5 inch flat side pull belt assemblies. The new side pull belts will be driven by bevel gears. The existing side pull belts must have an open bevel gear drive.

PLIP-41974.000 - Belt Driven Surface Unwind

More positive control of unwind, more consistent control of film/product placement relationship, fewer film problems on startups and increased poly roll capability up to 24.0" diameter. This upgrade can be applied to most mechanical UF 125, 160, and 250 wrappers. This upgrade is designed to replace the traditional brake metered free rolling unwind with modern belt driven surface unwind.

PLIP-41976.000 - Quick Change Former Mounting 

The former mounting bar uses manually controlled pneumatic air cylinders to mount the former. The bedplate drops away, easing removal and replacement of the former. Quick Change Former Mounting. All adjustments are made using locking rachet handles, no tools required. The eye is mounted on a pivot arm for ease in former removal. Reduces changeover time and Increases former accessibility. No tool requirements. The funnels have pre-set positive locations and can be removed using a locking ratchet handle. This upgrade can be applied to most UF 125, 160, and 250 wrappers. This upgrade is designed to convert a bolt-on former to a quick-change mounting.

PLIP-41984.000 - Rotary Brush Tucker

Replaces the existing chain mounted Flex-Wipe system on the EPS wrappers with a flexible, rotating brush assembly. Replaces traditional rigid aluminum rotary tuckers with a flexible, rotating brush assembly for mechanical wrappers. Improved package quality. Brushes provide positive transfer into the stationary front tucker. Accommodates all package configurations, no changeover necessary. Phasing capabilities allow timing one side to the other. Tucker/lower discharge timing is less critical. This upgrade can be used on single level machines only. Upgrade can be installed on most UF125, UF160, UF160S and UF250 mechanical wrappers. This upgrade can also be installed on UF EPS 140 and UF EPS 250 wrappers with G & L or Control Logix controls.

PLIP-41986.000 - Transfer Overhead Guide Assembly Replacement

Upgraded guide assembly requires fewer adjustments during changeover, increasing efficiency. Addition of linear bearing guides and linear adjustment positions for greater efficiency. Scale and pointer settings allow for improved setup repeatability. Elimination of spacer bar change parts. This upgrade can be applied to most mechanical UF 125, 160 and 250 wrappers. It can also be applied to most UF EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. This upgrade is designed to replace the existing transfer overhead guide assembly that requires multiple adjustments during package changeover.

PLIP-44945.000 - Side Sealer Pivoting Heater Upgrade - Single Level

The existing side sealer heaters have an air cylinder attached to each heater. This upgrade will have one air cylinder per side that will pivot out all the heaters on that side. The air cylinder is located below the heaters; thus, the air cylinder will be cooler and last longer. The existing heaters will be used. Fewer moving parts and longer air cylinder life. More reliable operation of heater extend/retract motion. This upgrade can be applied to most UF 125, 160 and 250 wrappers. It can also be applied to most UF EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. This upgrade is designed to replace the individual air cylinder loading on the side seal heaters.

PLIP-45211.000 - Former Roll Adjustment 

The existing two film rollers upstream of the former need to be adjusted individually for each package change. This upgrade provides a single mounting bracket for both rollers. This new design will significantly reduce changeover time from a 3 wide package to a 1 wide package. This upgrade can be applied to some mechanical UltraFlow 125, 160, and 250 wrappers with a main frame pull belt having an inside width of 46". Check with PCMC for a specific machine. This upgrade converts the individual adjustment of the two rollers upstream of the former to a single adjustment for both rollers.

PLIP-98124.000 -  Servo Drive Upgrade with Electronically Programmed and Sequenced (EPS) Controls

This conversion will upgrade the wrapper to current PCMC UltraFlow EPS control technology. Mechanical drive changeover requirements are eliminated. Wrapper reliability and efficiencies are improved. Wrapper upgrade is done at PCMC. Upgrade for existing UltraFlow "Mechanical" Wrappers of the following types: UF125, UF160S, and UF250. PCMC can supply the wrapper with the upgrade, if one is available, for an additional charge.  

UltraFlow EPS 130ET4D(/U) 

PLIP-41977.000 - Former Overhead Clutch 

Protects the former overhead flight chain assemblies by completely disengaging the drive when overloaded. Increases flight chain life and flight pin life. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 130ET4D/U and UF EPS 130ET4D wrappers that do not currently have a torque limiter on the former overhead.

PLIP-41978.000 - Former Overhead Drive

Equalize the chain stretch in the three-chain set, flight assembly. This modification adds a shaft to drive the third chain independently rather than being driven off the flight pin chain. This results in more even stretch among the three flight chains by independently driving the third chain. Increases flight chain life, improves synchronization of chain set and increases flight pin life. Positive lock phasing hubs. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 130 ET4D/U and UF EPS 130 ET4D wrappers. The wrapper must have a torque limiter on the former overhead drive. If the wrapper does not have a torque limiter, see optional upgrades in the Features and Benefits section of this PLIP. The former overhead drive provides an independent drive to the third flight chain. This results in more even stretch among the flight chains.  

UltraFlow EPS 130ET4D(/U) 

PLIP-41979.000 - Lower Discharge Drive

This modification adds a shaft to drive the third chain rather than being driven off the flight pin chain to equalize the chain stretch in the three - chain set flight assembly. This results in more even stretch among the three flight chains. Increases flight chain life, improves synchronization of chain set and increases flight pin life. Positive lock phasing hubs. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 130 ET4D/U and UF EPS 130 ET4D wrappers. This upgrade provides an independent drive to the third flight chain on the lower discharge.  

UltraFlow EPS 130ET4D(/U) 

PLIP-41980.000 -Pivoting Flighted Conveyor Stacker 

Smoother stacking operation, less product flow disturbance, increased efficiency, streamlined changeover process. reduced quantity of change parts and simplified adjustments. Flights are removable without tools for package changeover and easy maintenance. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 130 ET4D/U wrappers. The wrapper must have an infeed that measures 64 inches between frame members. The wrapper must have a G&L or Control Logix processor. Maximum stack height is 8" (203mm). The pivoting stacker is designed to replace the rotary wheel type stacker.

PLIP-41982.000 - 50 MM Quick Change Side Pull Belts (Twin Level)

Belts feature a center v-guide that improves tracking and promotes increased belt life. The new side pull belts have a synchronous (timing belt) drive that has a positive speed control. This results in improved package control during separation. This new assembly eliminates trapped side pull belts, creating greater efficiency through ease of replacement. Using the appropriate spacer components, one set of 2.0" (50mm) high side pull belts can be applied to any product diameter within the machine’s height range capabilities. This upgrade can be applied to most UF 130 ET4D wrappers. This upgrade is designed to replace the 2.50” and 1.50” flat side pull belt sets with improved 50mm v-guided side pull belts. This upgrade is designed for machines with an open bevel gear drive on the existing side pull belts.  

UltraFlow EPS 130ET4D(/U)

PLIP-44621.000 - Side Separator Belts Twin Level

The side separator belts are used in place of the side vacuum separator belts and do not use vacuum. The side separator belts operate similar to the side-pull belts to help separate the film. The twin level machines will have two sets of belts (lower and upper). The upper and lower belts are used for twin level product. Single level product uses only the lower belts. Change parts are used to adjust the height of the side separator belts. The side separator belts should reduce the required amount of pressure applied by the top separator belt because the product will be captured on four sides, not just two sides. Improvement of film perforation break consistency at separator belt section resulting in improved efficiency of the package transfer to the discharge section. Improved product control during film perforation break. This upgrade can be applied to most twin level UF EPS-130 ET4D wrappers with a bevel gear drive for the side vacuum separator belts. The twin level side separator belts are used in place of the side vacuum separator belts.  

UltraFlow 130-3D/140/200/250 and EPS 130ET4D(/U)

PLIP-41981.000 - Rockwell Controls Upgrade 

Ease of programming, maintenance and troubleshooting. Larger knowledge base. No ribbon cable connections. Machine mounted block I/O results in fewer termination points and faster sectionalized machine troubleshooting. Ease of operation. Touchscreen is informational and provides feedback to operators. Software is proven in the field. This upgrade can be applied to most of EPS 140, 130-3D, 200, and 250 wrappers. It can also be applied to most of EPS 130 ET4D wrappers with a pivoting stacker. The wrapper must have a BAM, Fenner, or G&L Controller. Replaces obsolete BAM or Fenner machine controllers and Siemens Servo drives with a Rockwell machine controller.

PLIP-41985.000 - Temperature Controller Replacement

Fewer units reduce the amount of replacement parts needed and reduce stocking requirements. Changeover time is reduced. Side seal temperature parameters can be maintained with the package parameters. Upgrade the temperature control system from stand-alone controllers to the Giddings & Lewis machine controller.

PLIP-41899.000 - Side Separator Belt Single Level 

Improvement of film perforation break consistency at separator belt section, resulting in improved efficiency of package transfer to discharge section. Improved product control during film perforation break. The side separator belts should reduce the required amount of pressure applied by the top separator belt because the product will be captured on four sides, not just two sides. This upgrade can be applied to most UF-EPS 140 and 250 wrappers. The side separator belts can be driven by open bevel gears or gear boxes. Contact PCMC for more information. This upgrade is designed for wrappers without side separator belts. Some machines may require lower separator belt assembly modification to allow clearance for the new side separator drive and adjustment components.

PLIP-41972.000 - Advanced Motion Compensation System 

Install Giddings and Lewis and operator interface software upgrades. This upgrade includes updating motion control code in existing software or updating the machine to the newest version. Assistance of a PCMC field service technician is recommended. It is estimated that the wrapper will be out of production for 10 hours to install this upgrade. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 140, 200, and 250 wrappers. The wrapper must have a G&L controller with PIC Pro version 11.0 or higher. This upgrade can also be applied to UF-HST wrappers with machine numbers 1004015 and lower.

PLIP-45198.000 - Perforator Pneumatic Clutch Upgrade 

Faster perforator changeover times if changing between film widths by having each perforator setup for a different width. Still have the ability to run both perforators at once. Faster perforator changeover times when changing from one perforator to two perforators and back to one perforator. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 140 and 250 wrappers with two 45 inch perforators. This upgrade adds a pneumatic clutch to both the standard rotary girth perforator and secondary/consumer rotary girth perforator.  

UltraFlow EPS 140/250 and EPS 130ET4D(/U)

PLIP-96883.000 - 8000 Watt Lap Seal Heater

Provides higher heat capacity,  more accurate temperature control, more robust heater element, ceramic versus glass heater inner housing lining and longer life heater element. This upgrade can be applied to most UF EPS 140, UF EPS 250 and UF EPS 130ET4D Ultraflow wrappers and high speed twin. It can also be applied to most wrappers. This upgrade replaces the single or dual 3600 watt heaters with one 8000 watt heater.
