100/150/200/250 Series

PLIP-40405.000 - Detectors

This upgrade can be applied to most 100/150/200/250 Series rewinders. Reduced maintenance and less damage is done to the machine by detecting machine fault before an operator could. The sensors in this upgrade detect common machine faults and stop the machine before damage can be done.  

100/150 Series

PLIP-40424.000 - Heavy Duty Chopper Roll

This upgrade can be applied to most 100 and 150 Series rewinders. The rewinder must have an individual or continuous pad bedroll. This conversion cannot be applied to rewinders with a brush style bedroll. The heavy-duty chopper roll is less prone to vibration at higher speeds. The journal diameter on the heavy-duty chopper roll has been increased to minimize the possibility of bending during a wrap-up. This requires some alterations to the frame for clearance of the journal on the drive side of the machine.  

100/150 Series

PLIP-44400.000 - Heavy Duty Glue Pan

This upgrade can be applied to most 100 and 150 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the sheet metal construction glue pan. The heavy duty glue pan is made from structural steel that is designed to withstand the operating temperatures of the glue heating system.  

100/150 Series

PLIP-52032.000 - Air Loaded Core Cutters

This upgrade can be applied to most 100 and 150 Series rewinders. This upgrade is intended to replace the spring loaded mandrel core cutters.  The core can be cut in as little as one full core revolution with sharp core cutters. Under normal conditions two core revolutions are required to cut the core. Air loaded core cutters improve the life of the core cutters and mandrels. They also reduce core dust and core damage. Automatically compensated for variations in core cutter diameter.  

100/150 Series

PLIP-52690.000 - Harmonic Drive Conversion

This upgrade can be applied to most 100 and 150 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the Ohio reducer that is no longer available. The harmonic drive conversion serves to increase versatility for count changes and as a replacement for obsolete gear boxes.  Optional Upgrade: PLIP 40432 timing belt drive to the cross drive shaft.  

150 Series

PLIP-38074.000 - Endless Metered Winding Flat Belts

Flat mandrel drive belts produce better product quality and consistency. Flat belts have significantly longer life than V-belts.  This upgrade provides a more positive surface contact with the mandrel drive pulley, resulting in more consistent diameter of the products being produced.  

150 Series

PLIP-39647.000 - Stationary Turret

This upgrade can be applied to most 150 Series rewinders with 45 inch or 46.875 inch circumference bedrolls. The stationary turret upgrade is designed for toilet tissue and household towel products. This conversion requires electronic metered winding.  Staking the turret increases the amount of time available to load cores onto the mandrel and strip logs off of the mandrel.  

150 Series

PLIP-40432.000 - 150 Timing Belt Drive To Cross Drive Shaft

This upgrade can be applied to most 150 Series rewinders. The timing belt drive package is a replacement option for the obsolete silent chain drive for the turret input drive from the cross drive shaft.  The installation of a timing belt will provide longer wear and be more readily available when replacement is necessary. By replacing the silent chain with a timing belt and replacing the existing sprockets with pulleys, you will have eliminated the need for lubrication of the chain and the maintenance caused by the dust/oil buildup. Optional Upgrade: Plip 52690 Harmonic drive conversion series 100 and 150 rewinders.  

150 Series

PLIP-40838.000 - Timing Belt Drive

This upgrade can be applied to most 150 Series rewinders. The rewinder must have a heavy duty chopper roll. The timing belt drive replaces the high-speed gear train that drives the bedroll, chopper roll, and perforator roll. Converting from a gear train to a timing belt drive will reduce drive noise, eliminate expensive replacement gears, and prevent dust/oil contamination caused by the oil lubrication of the gear train.  Timing belt drive reduces noise level generated by high-speed gear train. Elimination of gears reduces the high cost of replacement gears when compared to the cost of a timing belt. Elimination of oil system prevents dust/oil contamination in the area, keeping the area clean and minimizing maintenance issues.  

150 Series

PLIP-41349.000 - Hydraulic Perforator Head Lift

This upgrade can applied to most 150 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the air cylinder operated lift mechanism.  The hydraulic perforator head lift uses hydraulic cylinders acting directly on the perforator head.  An air blast system is provided as part of this package to sweep the seat area as the perforator bar is lowered.  

150 Series

PLIP-43389.000 - Air Loaded Draw Rolls With Timing Belt Drive

This upgrade can be applied to most 150 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the smooth steel and felt covered draw rolls, or spring loaded draw rolls.  The air loaded draw rolls can be opened to clear a web wrap. This feature can greatly reduce downtime.  Draw rolls can be opened and closed from the operator's station.  The timing belt drive is less noisy than high-speed gears. 

150/200/250 Series

PLIP-36283.000 - 250 Style Bedroll

Eliminates the need for relocating individual pads for roll length changes. Pinned cam follower arms reduce downtime for arm setup adjustment.  

150/200/250 Series

PLIP-36416.000 - Improved Chopper Trip Block 

The new chopper trip assembly improves the reliability of the transfer. Double cut-offs and missed transfers caused by a sticky plunger are greatly reduced.  

150/200/250 Series and Centrum  

PLIP-38622.000 - Single Sheet Count

This upgrade can be applied to most 150 Series, 200 Series, 250 Series, and Centrum rewinders of the following types: PCMC designed G&L/Indramat rewinders equipped with camless metered wind or pushbutton grade change.  This system gives the ability to run single sheet count increments on most bathroom tissue and towel products.  

150/200/250 Series  

PLIP-41173.000 - Clamp Style Chucking Spider

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200, and 250 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed for rewinders running bath tissue or household towel products. This upgrade is designed for rewinders with 20 inch diameter turrets. This upgrade is designed to replace the pinned spider assembly. PCMC has made improvements to the mandrel chucking spider assembly to reduce maintenance and improve operation.  

150/200/250 Series

PLIP-43395.000 - Cone Drive To The Draw Rolls

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200, and 250 Series rewinders This upgrade is designed for machines running toilet tissue or household towel products. The cone drive is designed to replace the variable speed belt drive. The cone drive to the draw rolls allows the user to accurately control the web tension through the perforator and over the bedroll.  

150/200/250 Series

PLIP-43404.000 - Cone Drive System With Push-Button Controls

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200, and 250 Series rewinders This upgrade is designed for machines running toilet tissue or house hold towel products. The cone drive is designed to replace the variable speed belt drive. The cone drive to the draw rolls allows the user to accurately control the web tension through the perforator and over the bedroll.  

150/200/250 Series and Centrum

PLIP-43698.000 - AC Camless Metered Winding Indramat and G&L

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200 and 250 Series and Centrum rewinders. Note: 150 Series Rewinders must have staked turret. This upgrade is designed for household towel and bath tissue products.  Replaces obsolete AC and DC metered wind systems and cone drive systems. AC Camless Metered Winding Indramat and G&L fast changeover from one count to another count within the specified range of products.  Not available on Series 150 Rewinders. Note: Additional mechanical devices are required. Flat belt mandrel drive upgrade (this is required for rewinders that have v-belt mandrel drive system). Endless metered wind belt conversion. This upgrade is designed for rewinders with "trapped" metered wind belts.  

150/200/250 Series

PLIP-46570.000 - Perforation Phaser

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200, and 250 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the slotted hub pulley on the perforator roll. Perforation to cut-off timing is adjusted by phasing the perforator roll during operation. The perforation phaser allows on the fly adjustments of the bedroll to perforator roll timing.  

150/200/250 Series and Centrum

PLIP-94391.000 - Variable Perforation Length And Single Sheet Count Upgrade

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200, 250 Series and Centrum Rewinders of the following types: PCMC designed G&L/Indramat camless metered wind systems. PCMC designed Rockwell camless metered wind systems, PCMC designed cam type metered wind systems and PCMC designed cone drive metered wind systems. All other designs need to be reviewed by PCMC. This upgrade allows the rewinder to produce single sheet count increments on most bathroom tissue and towel products as long as the maximum web slip on the bedroll is not exceeded.  Note: All counts must be reviewed by PCMC to verify slip percentage.  Note: Metered wind upgrade (servos) not included in this package. Controls: Rockwell Kinetix drives, Rockwell VersaView CE 1000H color HMI with Ethernet communication, Rockwell Controllogix L61 processor, Stegmann absolute encoder for master speed reference. Modular freestanding electrical cabinets with main disconnect switch.  

150/200/250 Series and Centrum

PLIP-95664.000 - AC Camless Metered Winding - Rockwell - 2000

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200 and 250 Series and Centrum rewinders. Note: 150 Series Rewinders must have staked turret. This upgrade is designed for household towel and bath tissue products.  Replaces obsolete AC and DC metered wind systems and cone drive systems. The AC camless metered winding system provides a means of controlling the mandrel speed through the use of electronically generated speed profiles. The electronic speed profiles provide consistent, repeatable closed loop control of the winding profile. Optional Features: Tail positioning. Allows the operator to control the position of the tail position on the log. Not available on Series 150 Series. Note: Additional mechanical devices are required. Flat belt mandrel drive upgrade (this is required for rewinders that have v-belt mandrel drive system). Endless metered wind belt conversion. This upgrade is designed for rewinders with "trapped" metered wind belts.  

150/200/250 Series and Centrum

PLIP-95665.000 - AC Cam-Type Metered Winding - Rockwell - 2000

This upgrade can be applied to most 150, 200 and 250 Series and Centrum rewinders. This upgrade is designed for household towel and bath tissue products.  Replaces obsolete AC and DC metered wind systems, and cone drive systems. The AC cam-type metered winding system provides a means of controlling the mandrel speed from a potentiometer following a mechanical cam. The AC cam-type metered winding system provides a consistent, repeatable open loop control of the winding profile. The cam-type metered wind system can be upgraded to camless at a future date.  Optional Features: Flat belt mandrel drive upgrade (the cam-type metered wind can be used with a v-belt mandrel drive system however, it is preferable to convert.  

200 Series

PLIP-41045.000 - Timing Belt Drive

This upgrade can be applied to most 200 Series rewinders. The timing belt drive replaces the high-speed gear train that drives the bedroll, chopper roll, and perforator roll. Converting from a gear train to a timing belt drive will reduce drive noise, eliminate expensive replacement gears, and prevent dust/oil contamination caused by the oil lubrication of the gear train. This change requires the installation of a disc brake on the bedroll and, in some cases, the perforator roll to relieve stress on the timing belt during emergency stop conditions. Modifications may need to be made to the journals, but will allow you to return to your high speed gearing if the need arises.  

200 Series

PLIP-41093.000 - Air Detour Bar

This upgrade can be applied to most 200 Series rewinders. This upgrade can be applied to rewinders running toilet tissue and household towel.  The air detour bar cannot be used on rewinders with in machine slitting. This upgrade is designed to replace the mechanical detour bar. The detour bar is designed to prevent premature transfers. It also keeps the tail end of the finished log off of the incoming glued core. The original detour bar design consisted of a gear train and a detour bar. This design was commonly found on 200 Series fixed turret design rewinders. This new air blast detour system eliminates all of the moving mechanical parts of the original design without affecting the operation of the rewinder. This system uses an air blast instead of the conventional detour bar to support the web. This upgrade package will reduce maintenance and downtime, and also eliminate the need for replacement parts.  

200 Series

PLIP-48367.000 - Supported Mandrel Mounting Spider

This upgrade can be applied to most 200 Series rewinders. This upgrade is intended to mount the mandrel spider directly to the turret support bracket instead of mounting it to the turret indexing shaft. The supported mandrel mounting spider isolates the deflection of the mandrels from the turret indexing shaft. The spider shaft supports the drive end of the mandrel spider assembly directly from the turret support bracket. The mandrel spider assembly is held to the turret shaft by a Ringfeeder clamping device. No tapered pins are required. The clamping device enables radial position alignment of the spider assembly. Rewinder performance has been improved by isolating the mandrel deflection. Production has been increased because web transfers are more consistent and web transfer speed can be increased with fewer blowouts and less downtime. The mandrel mounting spider assembly consists of turret support bracket, a turret indexing shaft, spider shaft, bearings, mandrel spider and clamping device.  

200/250 Series and Centrum 

Core Hopper

PCMC’s new Core Hopper was developed through our high speed Forte development. It is capable of supplying cores at rates of up to 65 cores per minute while keeping cores straight in the hopper, reducing the number of jammed cores.

Core Loader

The new style core loading was developed through our high speed Forte development. It is capable of supplying cores at rates of up to 65 cores per minute. This new core loader eliminates the spring, chain, and pusher wear that occurs on the chain style core loader. Fewer wear parts increases the reliability of core loading.  

200/250 Series 

PLIP-38623.000 - Endless Metered Winding Flat Belts

This upgrade can be fitted to most 200 and 250 Series rewinders with the chopper roll location at 10 degrees below horizontal (see diagram) and AC metered winding motors. The problem with the existing mandrel drive flat belt is that when it comes time to replace a worn belt, the new belt is spliced together on the machine. This requires the use of a heat splicer and splicing solutions. This process can take up to several hours, if the first splice is good. The new design moves the metered winding motors out from underneath the glue pan and mounts them on a plate on the edge of the rewinder frame. This allows a return path for the belt that does not capture any machine members. The belts are cut to length and spliced by the belt vendor. Now when a belt is worn, it is just a matter of removing the old belt and replacing it with a new one. No machine downtime for heat splicing the belt.  

200/250 Series

PLIP-40409.000 - TSL30 Tail Seal

This upgrade can applied to most 200 and 250 Series rewinders. This upgrade cannot be used for products that are slit in the rewinder. This upgrade is designed to replace an in machine spray type tail seal unit or a low cycle rate downstream tail seal unit. The TSL30 in machine tail seal lays down a linear bead of glue on the opened tail and seals it to the log. The tail sealer is located in front of the turret and between the frames of the rewinder. The linear actuator is servo driven. The winding roller is hydraulically driven. The tail seal racks out of the rewinder to allow access to both the rewinder and the tail seal for operator and maintenance tasks. High Quality Finished Product: Gives the consumer a preferred tail for easy roll starting. Produces tail length of .750" (19mm). Low Maintenance: Simple adhesive application system is reliable and is totally enclosed to eliminate contamination. The TSL30 has two guns. This lowers the traverse speed and reduces the loading on the linear actuator. Ease of Operation: Operators can easily view the turret transfer position and can easily reach the core load and roll strip positions. Space Saving: Integrated tail seal is part of the rewinder. High Cycle Rates: Up to 30 logs per minute. This rate requires tail positioning and camless metered wind. Up to 25 logs per minute without tail positioning.  

200/250 Series

PLIP-44423.000 - Gravure Style Glue System

This upgrade can be applied to most 200 and 250 Series rewinders. This upgrade is designed to replace the stepped ring design core glue system. The steel glue roll transfers rings of adhesive to the rubber glue roll, which in turn applies the rings of adhesive to the core. The new system incorporates a steel roll with knurled rings along the face. A single doctor blade system is used to wipe the roll face clean, except in the knurled areas. The single doctor blade reduces set-up time and provides more consistent core glue metering at all speeds. Full width doctor blade is spring loaded. Metering roll is chain driven by hydraulic motor. Metering roll drive is started and stopped to control glue application. Transfer roll is air mount loaded against metering roll. Pan and metering roll assembly is pivoted up when the machine is in run and down when the machine is stopped. Pan is lowered with air cylinders onto removal rails for cleaning. Stainless steel pan has two capped drains. Thermostatically controlled blanket heaters. Heaters have a maximum temperature of 250 degrees F. Glue over-spray guard.  

250/200 Series, Centrum and Korleus

PLIP-93614.000 - Fast-Home Upgrade

All Korleus Rewinders. Centrum, 250 Series, and 200 Series rewinders with Push-Button Grade Change capability and G&L or Rockwell controls. Continue Winding Feature: This feature allows the operator to start the machine faster after a loss of home fault when the web is still intact. The following example would apply to starting the rewinder after a no core fault.  

Korleus, Maxim and Quantum

PLIP-92041.000 - Quick Blade Change Perforator Clamps For Helical Perforator Rolls

Korleus, Maxim, and Quantum rewinders with helical perforator roll(s). The helical perforator blade clamps reduce change perforator blade change time. One helical blade clamp replaces 5 standard blade clamps. The helical blade clamp has three clamping screws (versus five on the equivalent standard clamp design). The helical blade clamps have springs that lift them off of the perforator blade. This allows the operators to easily slide the new blade into position without holding the blade clamps. The helical blade clamps are curved to match the helix on the perforator roll blade seats.
